Biography

 

Joyce is a graduate of Moore College of Art & Design in Philadelphia, PA  with a Bachelor 2014_0115JoycePortraits20140009of Fine Arts Degree in illustration and design.  She has been sewing and quilting for 30 years, and has been teaching art and quilting classes for the past 10 years throughout the southeast.  She enjoys creating her own quilt designs, and is inspired by nature, color, and of course, fabric.  She works in all quilt mediums, including machine and hand piecing, appliqué’, painting on fabric, hand and machine quilting, and much more.  She also has a special love for surface embellishment and hand embroidery.

Joyce has acquired many blue ribbon awards including “Best in Show” in the York County Quilt Show in 2008, Best Overall Color Award in 2012, and Best Overall Handwork Award at the Asheville Quilt Show in 2015.  Her pieces have been proudly exhibited in gallery showings, including a private show at the Rock Hill Performance Center in October, 2014, and an appliqué’ exhibit in May & June, 2015.  She was published as the Featured Fiber Artist in the December, 2014 and August, 2015 issues of York County Magazine and featured in Quilt Scene Magazine in October, 2015 at the Houston International Quilt Festival.  She has been teaching quilt classes for the past 10 years, and continues to show her quilts throughout North and South Carolina.
